What is Holistic Nutrition?


Holistic Nutrition is a natural, wholesome way of eating and living.  Holistic Nutrition is about what to eat and how to eat. Through careful awareness of our eating patterns and knowledge of foods we consume we can be well on our way to optimal health.  Holistic Nutrition looks at the total person, their dietary intake including supplements and lifestyle. 

The definition of “holistic” is related or concerned with the whole, or complete system, rather than with the analysis of, treatment of, or dissection into parts.  Holistic Nutrition then treats both the body and the mind in order to develop better food habits.

In Holistic Nutrition, all body systems are considered because they all inter-relate.  A weakness in one part of the body may show its affect in another part of the body. Holistic Nutrition works to balance all the systems.  For example, weak digestion often translates into irritability, fatigue, allergies, and even skin problems.  Holistic Nutrition strengthens our body and immune system which allows us to prevent and overcome numerous chronic conditions.  We really are what we eat!  When we eat a wholesome diet we give our body all the ammunition it needs to help fight off infection and illness. 

Nutritionists believe food is our most important medicine, and should be addressed first in the healing process.  Eating a wholesome diet is not as difficult as it may seem at first.  With dedication we can learn to incorporate foods into our diet that have tremendous affects on both our body and mind.

Sandra has spent years working on finding the “optimum diet” for herself and spent much time polishing and fine tuning what foods to eat.  With awareness she learned that our body is ever changing so we must too always be open to adapting our diet to how our body feels in the present moment.

WE HAVE TO LISTEN TO OUR BODY.

When we listen to our body, we begin to recognize what signals our body sends us and we adjust our foods according to what signals are being sent.  Food cravings disappear, moods balance, energy elevates, and we are increasing drawn to more natural foods that are packed with nutrients for our body. 

Reaching an nutrition goals doesn’t happen overnight but the results are lasting.  We can take baby steps, slowly adding whole foods to our diet that will “nourish” our body.  The more we learn about food the more knowledge we have to make healthier decisions about what to eat. 

Sandra is excited to share what she has learned through her own struggles with nutrition to help others in their path to optimal health.  Sandra thinks of food as medicine and makes conscious choices daily about foods she eats to make sure they are the most nutritious and most nourishing available.


 

Programs We Offer


Holistic Nutrition 101:  This program arms you with  information on how to get moving in a healthier direction.  Prior to your visit you will be given a food & lifestyle analysis and a Five-Day food diary to complete.  The initial session examines your current lifestyle and eating patterns, identifying weak points and areas for improvement, as well as setting up realistic goals.  Your holistic nutrition consultation should take approximately  one hour and you will receive food recommendations and lifestyle suggestions.

If desired, subsequent sessions will focus on monitoring your progress, identifying improvements, setting further goals as needed.

Holistic Nutrition:  Eight Weeks to Optimum Health This program will include the same criteria as above. In addition, you will have weekly consultations to review the week and identify changes and improvements.  You will be given  additional food and lifestyle recommendations weekly for healthy eating, healthy moving, and healthy living. 

This program is great for anyone who needs to make lasting changes to their nutrition and needs help getting motivated!  This program will slowly allow you to incorporate new foods and lifestyle habits.  This program is recommended for anyone that needs encouragement to get their diet moving in the right direction!  Email support given, supplement suggestions, and recipe ideas included.

Eight Weeks to Optimum Health: Yoga & Holistic Nutrition  This program will include the same criteria as above, but in addition, will evaluate your fitness goals and include weekly yoga classes to get your body moving which increases metabolism, boosts your immune system, burns fat, elevates mood, and helps tone and strengthen the entire body thereby inducing a peaceful state of mind.
