Class Descriptions

Chair Yoga

Have you tried yoga and given up because you couldn’t get down to the floor? Have you had knee or hip replacement and find yoga painful or uncomfortable? Are you a caregiver for someone who falls into one of these categories. In this class you will learn ways to modify traditional yoga poses for someone who is sitting in a chair. Yoga done in a chair will help build strength, endurance, balance and stamina just like traditional yoga does. Whether you are sitting or standing, yoga will help clear your mind of mental clutter, improve your concentration, and calm and steady your emotions.

Deep Healing Flow

This class will take you beyond your typical asana practice. You will find yourself gently flowing through asana, incorporating pranayama (breathwork), and exploring connection to self and others through a meditative and devotional practice. Combining these individually potent practices creates a space of calm clarity by the end of class. Come with a sense of curiosity, openness, and playfulness. Leave feeling lighter, fuller, and powerful where you stand.

Gentle & Senior Yoga

This special offering is appropriate for aging adults, seniors, and those dealing with chronic illness that need a slower, more gentle pace.   Improve your strength, flexibility, and mobility through standing or seated yoga poses specially adapted for aging adults at any level of health and fitness. Chairs and props are provided to keep everyone safe and supported. Teachers focus on helping students improve circulation, breath awareness and capacity, strength, stability, and flexibility.  We teach gentle routines that allow students to work at their own pace. Students will use the wall for added support, stability, and assistance.

Teachers will offer modifications for beginners and more challenging variations for more advanced students as well. We will explore the inner dimensions of Yoga and build the courage, grit, equanimity,  joy and strength to heal ourselves and our lives. Appropriate for everyone, at any and All Levels of experience with Yoga.  Come ready to connect to your innerself through kriya, pranayama, asana, movement, meditation, music and mantra.

Meditation

These somatic meditation sessions are for awakening the sacred. You will be guided step-by-step through practices to deepen connection to the present moment using sound, breath, sensation, grounding into the earth, and more. In these unique meditations you will be thoroughly grounded in the body and in ordinary experience. You will learn to anchor yourself in the present moment, to awaken awareness, to release stress and tension, calm your thoughts, rest awareness on the breath, open your heart, and experience sensation as a doorway to non-dual awareness.

Healing Breathwork Circle

In conscious integrative breathwork, you are able to access an expanded states of awareness and connect with your inner intelligence. This is the same amazing intelligence that allows our bodies to take care of all of our internal body processes every second of every day to keep us alive. We just do not normally have conscious connection to it unless its been consciously cultivated.  By doing breathwork on a regular basis, along with profound physical and emotional releases during the sessions, you will strengthen the neural pathway to this internal intelligence and be able to access it more consistently on a moment to moment basis in your life by just taking a few deep breaths.

Strengthening Flow

A purposeful and playful practice of Yoga that is meant to empower you from the inside out.  During class, we will focus on alignment, flexibility, and building strength all while calming the mind. Strengthening Flow is a safe and light-hearted environment appropriate for all levels of students to grow their practice. This practice is for the beginner and beyond.

Yin Yoga

Yin yoga is a quiet and simple practice, but not necessarily an easy practice. Yin yoga works deeply into our body. It targets our deepest tissues of the body, our connective tissues — ligaments, joints, bones, and the deep fascia networks of the body — rather than the muscles.  Energetically, Yin yoga improves the energy flow, enhancing the flow of chi in the organs. To be healthy, we need healthy organs as well as healthy muscles.

Meditation and Pranayama

This class is 30 minutes of guided meditation and breath practice (or pranayama) and may include some gentle, seated movement to settle in. Students will learn a combination of different styles of meditation and breathing techniques to further develop their own meditation practice if they desire. This class is short enough that it can be easily plugged in to a part of your day that needs extra grounding, support, or refocusing. Students do not need anything to attend this class other than a place to sit comfortably. Headphones are recommended but not required. This is an all-levels class that is appropriate for those just beginning, seeking community, or who have a regular meditation practice.
